Shin's FET Dumbloid is arguably the company's most complete expression of the "Dumble in a box" concept. While the standard Dumbloid captures the overdrive channel of a Dumble-style amplifier, the FET Custom Preamp version adds another critical piece of the puzzle: The FET input stage found on many original Dumble amplifiers. 

Rather than functioning as a simple clean boost, the FET input acted as an active front-end preamp that:

• Increased headroom
• Added harmonic richness
• Tightened the low end
• Enhanced pick attack
• Made the amp feel more responsive

Shin's recreated this circuit for pedalboard use, describing it as a clear, powerful FET booster that can be adjusted internally via a trim pot, just like the original amplifier's FET input stage.

The FET Custom Preamp Drive combines:

1. A standalone FET preamp
2. The classic Dumbloid overdrive

That means you can use:

• FET only
• Overdrive only
• FET into the overdrive

The last option is where the pedal really shines, because it pushes the drive section much like plugging into the FET input of a real Dumble amplifier.

Controls:

• Drive – amount of gain
• Tone – overall EQ
• Accent – functions similarly to a presence/post-gain control, affecting attack and upper harmonics
• Volume – output level
• Jazz/Rock switch – changes the overall voicing.  Jazz = smoother, softer, and more rounded.  Rock = more forward midrange, stronger attack, and higher perceived gain.
