Shin's Music Clean Drive Plus Custom Drive / Booster Pedal - Natural Tweed

The Clean Drive Plus is one of the newest evolutions of one of Shin Suzuki's oldest and most respected designs. While the original Clean Drive has existed for over 30 years, the Clean Drive Plus incorporates many of the custom modifications Shin developed for professional players into a single production model.  It's designed to deliver an abundance of harmonic richness while remaining highly dynamic and touch-sensitive.

Unlike many "transparent" overdrives that aim to disappear, the Clean Drive Plus is designed to behave more like a high-end tube microphone preamp being pushed into saturation. Shin specifically describes it as pursuing the sound of a tube condenser microphone preamp driven into musical overdrive, producing complex overtones rather than simply clipping the signal.

At low gain, it thickens the note without obvious distortion. Chords become more three-dimensional, almost like a studio recording chain.

At medium gain, it creates smooth, singing sustain with lots of harmonic bloom rather than mid-hump compression.

At high gain, it's still articulate, but focused more on rich overdrive than modern distortion.

Shinichi "Shin" Suzuki is one of Japan's most respected boutique guitar equipment manufacturers. Shin is a self-taught designer and engineer who has spent decades building custom pedals, amplifiers, guitars, and studio equipment for professional musicians. Everything is conceived and built in Tokyo with an emphasis on craftsmanship rather than mass production.

These pedals are definitely a "if you know, you know" kind of thing!  Suzuki rarely advertises, and instead earned reputation among Japanese session players and touring professionals.
