The Benson Delay is anything but sterile.

Drawing from Benson’s deep background in tape echo and bucket brigade servicing, this pedal was designed around one goal: beautifully degraded repeats that feel floaty, colorful, chaotic, and musical all at once. From subtle tape-like movement to washed-out ambient textures, it lives in that perfect space between vintage warmth and controlled unpredictability.

With a massive 30ms–1250ms delay range, it easily covers slapback, chorus, vibrato, tape flutter, ambient washes, and warped soundscapes. The onboard modulation section offers huge flexibility with adjustable speed, depth, and selectable sine, square, or random waveforms for everything from gentle movement to fully seasick warble.

Hold the TAP switch to temporarily increase feedback and push the pedal into self-oscillation territory. Pair it with the time control and things get very alien, very quickly. Perfect for drones, experimental textures, and synth-like chaos without introducing unwanted clicks or artifacts into the signal path.

One of the coolest parts of the Benson Delay is how smooth everything feels. Unlike many digitally clocked delays, changing delay time avoids the harsh glitchiness and jagged artifacts common in modern designs. The result feels organic, responsive, and musical no matter how extreme the settings get.

The tap tempo implementation is also incredibly accurate thanks to “Bontempo” technology developed by Antoine Ricoux at Electric Canary and further refined by film colorist Octave Zangs. Each pedal even calibrates itself automatically.
