Introducing the PRS Astryx Limited Edition

PRS Guitars has unveiled the new Astryx Limited Edition, a signature model created in collaboration with Dany Villarreal, lead guitarist and co-founder of The Warning.

Based on the iconic Custom 24 platform, the Astryx Limited Edition blends familiar PRS performance and craftsmanship with a highly personal design inspired by Villarreal’s identity, heritage and evolution as a player.

For Villarreal, the connection with PRS has always gone beyond specifications.

“One of the most important things for me in a guitar is that it feels like an extension of my body and that I can trust it and just do my thing. Ever since I tried my first PRS guitar, it’s been an inseparable relationship.”

That relationship has now resulted in her first signature model.

A Custom 24 With a Distinct Identity

At its core, the Astryx retains many of the features players know and love from the PRS Custom 24, including a maple top, mahogany back, 24 frets, 25-inch scale length and Pattern Thin neck profile.

One notable change is the addition of an ebony fretboard, giving the instrument a distinctive feel and appearance while complementing the model’s modern character.

The guitar is equipped with a pair of PRS DMO humbuckers, along with the PRS Patented Gen III Tremolo, delivering the versatility, sustain and dynamic response Villarreal relies on as the sole guitarist in The Warning.

As Villarreal explains:

“It has such a beautiful sustain, which I really like. The neck also feels so comfortable, and it’s not that heavy. As the only guitar player in the band, I love how my PRS takes up a lot of space sonically.”

Inspired by the Sun, Stars and Mexican Heritage

The Astryx is also one of the most visually distinctive PRS releases of the year.

Its name comes from the root word for “star,” representing guidance and a connection to something greater. That celestial theme continues throughout the guitar’s design.

The custom Solecito inlay pattern, meaning “little sun,” features a sun at the twelfth fret and serves as a tribute to Villarreal’s Mexican heritage.

The finish, called Ocaso, translates to “sunset” and blends shades of purple, pink, orange and yellow across the figured maple top. The result is a finish that immediately separates the Astryx from a traditional Custom 24 while remaining unmistakably PRS.

Limited to 200 Guitars Worldwide

The PRS Astryx Limited Edition is being produced in an extremely limited run of just 200 instruments for 2026.

Each guitar also includes an autographed backplate, further distinguishing the release as a celebration of Villarreal’s career and her growing influence within modern rock.

At only 200 pieces worldwide, the Astryx is positioned as both a serious player’s instrument and a significant limited-edition PRS release.
