This 1951 NoCaster comes to us from the Fender Custom Shop with the kind of feel that made the early Blackguards so important. The Heavy Relic work is convincing without going over the top, and the Crimson Transparent finish lets the ash body show through in a way that feels both classic and a little unexpected. It looks like it has lived a full life, but it still feels fresh and responsive in the hands.
The quarter sawn maple neck has the full 1951 U profile. It is big, round, and supportive, and it settles in quickly once you start playing. The 9.5 inch radius and narrow tall frets keep the guitar easy to navigate, and the hand wound 50 to 51 Blackguard pickups deliver the punch, clarity, and midrange presence that define a great NoCaster. The modern wiring keeps everything familiar and usable without changing the character of the instrument.
It is a strong, confident workhorse with a lot of personality. A reminder of why this design has lasted as long as it has.
