Few instruments are as instantly iconic as Keith Richards’ black 1960 ES-355. For more than six decades, Keith, the "Human Riff" himself, has defined the sound, swagger, and soul of rock ’n’ roll. From the historic Sticky Fingers and Exile on Main St. sessions to every Rolling Stones world tour since 1997, this guitar has been at the center of it all.

Now, Gibson Custom proudly presents the Keith Richards 1960 ES-355 Collector’s Edition: a painstaking, no-compromise recreation of the exact instrument that helped shape modern music.

Built entirely by hand at the Gibson Custom Shop in Nashville, this Collector’s Edition is far more than a tribute. Using advanced 3D scanning of Keith’s original guitar, period-correct materials, and vintage-accurate construction techniques, every contour, carve, and nuance has been obsessively recreated. Murphy Lab artisans have then aged every surface, metal, plastic, and finish, to authentically reflect decades of honest wear, down to the smallest detail.

The multi-ply bound body is crafted from three-ply maple/poplar/maple with red spruce bracing and a weight-relieved maple center block for enhanced sustain and reduced feedback. The mahogany neck features a Custom Keith Richards profile, derived directly from scans of the original, paired with a bound ebony fingerboard and mother-of-pearl block inlays. Medium Wide frets, a Bigsby B7 vibrato, Grover Rotomatic tuners with Milk Bottle buttons, and aged gold hardware complete the vintage-correct feel.

Electronics are equally uncompromising. A matched pair of unpotted Custombucker pickups with aged Alnico 5 magnets, wired with CTS 500k audio taper pots and paper-in-oil capacitors, delivers the unmistakable tone—open, dynamic, and dripping with character—that made this guitar legendary.

Only 100 instruments exist worldwide. Each features a hand-signed f-hole label by Keith Richards himself, making every example a true collector’s artifact. Every guitar ships in a Custom Shop Keith Richards 1960 ES-355 Collector’s Edition hardshell molded case and includes a certificate of authenticity, scarf, and strap.
